Dandaraga Road

Traditional lands of the Awabakal people

Set on the shores of Lake Macquarie, this project was designed as a seamless retreat that connects the home to its surroundings while creating a sanctuary of calm and resilience. The brief was to combine practicality with beauty — a garden that could soften the architecture, frame the views, and remain low-maintenance over time.

Drawing inspiration from the land, our design used sandstone, granite, and recycled sleepers to ground the garden with natural permanence. Planting was layered for resilience and texture, with hardy natives providing structure alongside select exotics that bring softness and seasonal change. Each element was chosen to thrive in the lakeside conditions while supporting year-round use and enjoyment.

The result is a garden that balances strength with serenity — offering the property both street presence and intimate spaces for gathering, reflection, and retreat. It is a landscape designed to endure, mature, and quietly enhance the home for years to come.
